ADSB and Spain-based Navantia join hands, will explore business opportunities in the UAE's defense sector

Abu Dhabi Ship BuildingAbu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) and Navantia have joined hands to explore future business opportunities for UAE Navy and other Gulf countries, according to an official statement released by ADSB on December 18, 2013.

ADSB is a leading shipbuilder and naval support provider in the Gulf region, and Navantia is a Spanish, state-owned company, which specializes in design, construction, integration and life cycle support of naval vessels.


Their agreement includes collaboration on ‘Through-Life Support’, ‘Platform Systems integration’, ‘Procurement Management’, ‘Operational and Maintenance Training’ and ‘Transfer of Technology’.

navantiaThe MoU was signed between ADSB Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Khaled Al Mazroui and the Commercial Vice-President of Navantia, Mr. Gonzalo Mateo-Guerrero and took place at ADSB headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The aim of this MoU is to support and optimize naval ship building

, maintenance, repair and refit activities for the UAE Navy. 

This MoU

 is to be considered as a preliminary understanding for future agreements for naval projects in the UAE and GCC countries, and strengthens the industrial capabilities of the UAE in the defense services sector. The cooperation will also provide an opportunity for ADSB and Navantia to demonstrate their joint expertise, with a vision to develop a long term relationship with major navies of the region.
